Career Paths for Transit Officers

Working as a Transit Officer could be your gateway to an exciting and varied career. As a Transit Officer, you would be a part of the Security Services branch in the Transperth Train Operations division. When vacancies become available you can apply to be promoted on merit to the following positions:

  • Senior Transit Officer - after completion of a Certificate 3 in Transport and Distribution (Rail Operations) qualification
  • Transit Supervisor - only available to Senior Transit Officers. It also comes with line supervision responsibilities.
  • Transit Shift Commander - this position has overall shift and rail system cooridination response responsibilities.

Transit Officers work alongside other Public Transport Authority employees, so your career path could lead to roles which include:

  • Salaried positions in Transit Office support areas of revenue administration or prosecutions
  • Other Transperth Trains operational roles - this includes Customer Service personnel, Control Monitoring Room operators, Railcar Drivers etc
  • Other PTA roles - any other position across the many divisions that make up the PTA.
